I get a new project every 6 months or so. These short term projects need a very aggresive time line, so it's my job to make sure everything gets delivered on time, all the resources are secured and risks are raised and resolved.
8:00 - 9:30 am: On the train to work, I check emails on my Blackberry while most people around me are reading newspapers/playing sudokus or listening to MP3s.
9:30 - 10 am: Check email, flag the ones I need to reply to.
10 am: I meet with the project team to get a sense of what they've done yesterday, what's planned for today, also take down any risks/issues that need my attention.
10:30 am - 12 pm: Normally either talking on the phone with a manager/employee trying to resolve issues, or getting pulled into meetings where people force me to make a decision on matters that I have little or no knowledge of.
12 pm: Eat lunch at my desk or go out with my entourage.
1 - 3 pm: Read documents, provide feedbacks, sign off anything that requires my signatures.
3pm: Starbucks break
3:00 pm - 5:30 pm: In meetings.
5:30 pm - 7:00 pm: On the train home. Same as morning, checking and replying to emails on my Blackberry. I sometimes also work on my laptop if I get a good seat.
My day revolves around these type of work everyday, sometimes in different orders (I might go in to a meeting in the morning, then read and sign off documents in the afternoon) When it's near project delivery deadline, I often work overtime, when it's easier, I go on more coffee breaks.
