I make presentations and train the company's internal departments on newly released inter-office applications.
8:00 a.m.: Arrive at office, check voice mail and e-mail.
8:30 a.m.: Return phone calls and emails with urgent questions.
9:00 a.m.: Grab a coffee, then meet with the technical solutions team to get the latest specs and feature updates for the current application I'm preparing the training documents for. (It's a very simple software that shows dashboards for your key performance indicators)
10:00 a.m.: Review the training documents my co-worker put together yesterday. She's new to this project, so I'm mentoring her for a little bit by proof reading the documents and presentation materials.
11:00 a.m.: Received new screenshots from the systems analyst. The application is still in beta mode, she had circled a couple of new tool bar updates. I note down the changes and start to think how the new changes will affect the training documentations.
11:45 a.m.: Heading out to lunch with a couple of my office buddies.
12:30 p.m.: Return to the office, check my e-mail and voice mail.
1:00 p.m.: Go through the new trainees list. For the KPI dashboard application, most of the trainees are at the management level, with a few technical analysts.
2:00 p.m.: Continue to work on the training presentations I prepared from yesterday. I had finished 2 out of 10 PowerPoint slides.
3:00 p.m.: Coffee break. I run into my manager in the hallway, we decided to grab a snack from the cafe next door. On the elevator down to the cafe, I start to tell the manager a few new ideas my team has come up with for the new training sessions.
4:00 p.m.: Meeting with newbie co-worker. Go through the edits on the training material.
5:00 p.m.: I have a draft copy of the new training session ready, need to submit it to my manager for review. I email myself the other two lessons that are still work-in-progress. Going to work from home tonight.
6:00 p.m.: Time to go home.
