I've been working at this company for two years now. The responsibilities have been fairly stable, deliverables of the work package are constantly updated but my piece of the work is always about the same. There are lots of perks, one of them is free breakfast and lunch. ;) 9:30 I arrive at the office. Feeling really hungry today, so I head straight to the cafeteria. Pick up a bagel, a banana and a cup of tea. 10:00 Turn on my computer screen, while buttering my bagel. Then once my computer boots up, I read through my emails, also launch the Wall Street Journals and browse through the headlines. 10:30 Attend my team's daily status meeting. Sit and listen to the other programmers go through a list of to-dos, then report my progress so far as well as the things I'm going to be working on later. 11:00 Head to the cafe to grab some cookies. Gained 25 pounds since I started this job. But the great food is worth every ounce of that! Plus, the company also reimburses gym membership, I keep reminding myself to sign up one of these days. 11:15 - 1pm I look through my codes from last night, making some small changes. Perform unit testing and make sure I didn't break anything that was working before. 1:00 Email some people sitting near me to see if anyone's ready to go for lunch. Didn't hear anything back, so take another glance at the codes. 1:30 My group's ready for lunch! FINALLY. Lunch buffet is awesome. I pig out on another gourmet meal while chatting with my coworkers. 2:15 Back to the desk. Check emails. Too sleepy to keep looking at the screen. I grab my "partner in crime" at work, together, the two of us head to the Starbucks across the street. 2:45 Officially return to work. I reply to a few emails, the Quality Assurance team wants me to take a second look at a snippet of code I sent in last week. I do that, finds one bug, fixes it, call QA back and explain what was wrong. 3:30 - 5:00 Perfecting my code. Stopping once in a while to reply emails. 5:00 - 6:00 Attend developers' meeting. People bring in their tough to solve problems and we try to pitch in our 2 cents. The team lead also takes the chance to provide any updates from the Business. 6:00 I give myself a 20 minute snack break. Eat while browse the news websites and check emails. 6:30 - 7pm I make final changes/saves to my work for the day. Then I'm off! |
